Ninnuam: Promo 2010

28/12/10  ||  Lord K Philipson

Quite a few moons ago (back in fucken 2003 even) these fellow Swedes released a good album entitled “Process of life separation”. High-quality death/black metal that really should have gotten more recognition. Yeah, I know – you never heard of Ninnuam. It’s not like they have been very active up until now. According to their website they did record a MCD some years ago. I don’t know if it was even released and I never saw nor heard it. Seems like they have fallen victim to the declining record industry now as the new offering is a demo and not an actual album. Shameful. Ninnuam deserve to be signed.

You get 3 tunes of deathish black metal that is well-produced and catchy – just how I like it. There are small moments of Dark Funeral in here and we all know what that means; melodies and a nice diabolical atmosphere. A few neatly played keyboards pop up occasionally, tastefully arranged without being dominating whatsoever. I’m not completely blown away by any means, but there’s no denying that they know what they are doing. This demo isn’t making as big a impact as the album did a few years back. Anyways, it’s is full-on quality with a fair dose of aggression and fine musicianship on top of that. You will enjoy it, bitch. Take my word for it. If qualitative death/black is your thing, that is.

What kind of name is Ninnuam anyways? Have a few spare minutes to kill? Then you can find the answers somewhere in this link. If the band name’s got some satanic references, it’s safe to say their stage-look doesn’t. Time to work on that fellas. You can’t look like a boy-band of the 90’s and expect the crowd to fear you and your evil music. Back to the drawing board for that one, ok? This is more like it. Only a couple of errors in there. Glasses and notes don’t go too fucken well with the blood. You got the idea right though. Work on it, cunts.

I don’t know if these assholes got what it takes to land a new record deal, but fuck knows there are way lesser bands out there shitting out albums no one cares about.

The biggest downside of this new effort is: I wish I got something more than a 3-track demo, coz these fuckers are good. But I already knew that. Now give me another full-length, and impress the fuck out of me with it while you are at it, you hear?
